OIC ARBITRATION CENTER

The OIC Arbitration Centre (OIC – AC) was established as an institution affiliated to the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Istanbul, aiming at resolving trade and investment disputes by arbitration and other Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) methods as agreed by the parties such as mediation, adjudication, etc.

 

The Centre shall seek to achieve the following objectives:

  • Facilitate settlement of commercial and investment disputes referred to the Centre involving natural persons or legal persons from the Member States of the OIC and Non-OIC States.
  • Promote arbitration and alternative dispute resolution within the Member States of the OIC.
  • Enhance knowledge and improve skills and expertise in arbitration and alternative dispute resolution
  • Make submissions on reform of dispute resolution law and practice in the Member States of the OIC.

 

GREEN WAQF

Description of the Initiative:

It is a giant initiative in the agricultural and social economy that the Chamber launches with a large number of partners to achieve a set of developmental and social goals in agricultural societies through a sustainable business model based on the application of the concept of the Islamic Waqf “endowment”, which is characterized by combining closeness to Allah and achieving sustainable development.

GOALS:
  • Reviving unutilized Awqaf “endowments”, particularly from agricultural lands.
  • Converting unused rural lands in the OIC countries to productive lands.
  • Enabling individuals to contribute to the Awqaf “endowments”.
  •  Enabling different people of different nations to support each other especially those who are remotely far from them and in need of help.
  • Achieving high economic and social stability in local communities through a rational environmental economy that is planned and implemented according to the best standards that are usually difficult for individuals to achieve.
  • Empowering women and youth.

Based on ICCIA’s role in reducing the vulnerability of its member states to climate change and its impacts on human, living standards and food, ICCIA launched the Green Waqf Initiative to achieve the following:

1- Mobilizing investment to establish time-bound projects to provide the necessary funding for the projects related to agriculture, livestock development and fish farming.

2- Allocating lands for the establishment of projects aiming at raising income levels of the poor families and individuals. The revenues generated from projects shall also be repurposed to finance the low-income families, as well as those who are working in Waqf projects.

3- Restore the ecological balance.

4- Contribute to reducing global warming.

The initiative is based on the concept of Waqf, stemming from the principle of Recurring Charity.

In addition, it aims to utilize the lands affected by climate change, for example (desertification, low agricultural production), serving the low-income communities as well as contributing to restoring the ecological balancing and combating the effects of climate change.

 

 

ICCIA Academy for Training and Development

It is a specialized arm in developing human capabilities, established by the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (ICCIA) to develop the leaderships of the private sector and its organizations in the Islamic world.

ICCIA believes that leadership development is the way towards an optimal future and sustainable development, and that the empowerment of the private sector can only be achieved by creating empowered leaderships with various skills.

 

Vision:

Developing business leaders of the private sector in the member states, contributing to creating a prosperous economy according to the needs and capabilities of each country.

 

Goals:

1- Enabling chambers of commerce to lead the private sector.

2- Increasing the effectiveness of non-profit Institutions in the member states.

3- Developing governance practices and work ethics across the business institutions of the member states.

4- Creating generations of business leaders, capable of creating a better future for their institutions.

5- Developing effective specialized training programs, supported by research and workshops.

6- Enabling human wealth to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of working environment and personal lives.
